About Hellesdon Parish Hall
Hellesdon Parish Hall is an iconic building purchased for£395 in 1924 from Boulton and Paul of Norwich. It was one of their prefabricated buildings on a wooden frame. The walls and floor were made of wood and the roof was made of corrugated iron. Walls and flooring are still substantially intact but the roof was replaced in 1993 with a modern composition material and the wooden window frames with modern PVC.
Situated next door to St Mary's church on the Low Road the Hall is an ideal venue for group meetings and family parties at a modest price of £8.50 per hour for Hellesdon residents and £9 per hour for non-residents. Administered under an independent trust for the benefit of the community, it has served as a well-loved social centre right to the present day.

Summer 2019
May 29th 2019
This was our AGM well attended by members. The chairman reported a successful year of lettings and events organised by the trustees. We have an updated constitution, our property is now registered with the Land registry and we look forward to securing some funding to refurbish the Hall
The Hall has been well maintained during the past year. The parking area has been cleared of scrub and weeds thanks to the help of committee and friends . We are now looking to re-furbish the Hall floor and paint the outside of the building.
Report at AGM
Thanks to all supporters and hirers for their help over the past year. Our last MUGS MORNING (coffee morning with bacon rolls, cakes and a cup of tea or coffee) was on Saturday Feb 23rd. Thanks to all who supported this event. This was a useful fundraising event plus a very enjoyable social occasion.
OTHER EVENTS
We celebrated NORFOLK DAY on Saturday July 27th thinking of those who have contributed to our Norfolk communities especially to the community of Hellesdon. Sat July 27th 10am to 2pm, Mugs Morning in the Parish Hall was the venue for refreshments (including the renowned bacon butties!), raffle and bring and buy sale and anecdotes of our own Norfolk heroes and heroines.
ALL WELCOME to future Mugs Mornings!
COME AND JOIN US!!
On Saturday September 21st we celebrated HERITAGE OPEN DAY with a Mugs Morning Extra. We focused on some of the history of our community of Hellesdon with an informative display. Entry and refreshments were free to all, though we asked for a donation for the latter.
We welcomed visitors interested in the history of the Hall as a Boulton and Paul manufactured building.
We look to do this again next year.
More info for this to follow. Watch this space!
Look out for SANTA'S GROTTO on December 7th with the REAL Father Christmas!
SUMMER 2023
At last we are up and running again!
Thanks to our amazing friends, supporters and hirers we have managed to survive the two years of lockdown and the following two years of slow recovery. Obviously, during that time we had to limit our availability to the community, but we have now bounced back and aim to work hard to provide an attractive, friendly meeting place for all our hirers. Bookings are increasing rapidly. We keep our charges as low as we possibly can. Many thanks to all our hirers who take pride in leaving the Hall in pristine condition after their event. We look forward to establishing the Hall as a focus for community life for many years to come.
